There was a murder that took place on October 12, 2026 that I wonder was it planned.

27-year-old Metallica Rose Harrison had raided her husband Charles’ 401k account to pay for their three weeks at a Pennsylvania resort, Great Wolf Lodge. That vacation ended in a horrific murder scene.

The family had been checked into the resort from September 21 until October 5. They extended their stay until Tuesday.

The vacation was supposedly intended as an early Christmas gift to their son, Tristan.

The family trio had seemingly been cheerful in the days leading up to the tragedy.

Metallica had called their family and we’re video chatting with them, and then she says she loved them very much, just like she normally would.

But the very next day, police were called to their hotel room after Metallica asked for help to kill herself as she couldn’t find where to stab herself.

The family said that Charles had been a devoted husband and father.

He was a fantastic husband. Metallica got lucky when it came to him. He just was good. He was a good father. The family said they didn’t think they ever even seen him fight.

Police said Metallica told them she wanted to join her husband and son after telling the operator: ‘My husband and son are already gone, in the bed in the living room. They’re already gone, I’m sorry.’ She said, “I need help dying, I’m too weak to stab my neck.”

When asked whether she had weapons, she reportedly confirmed she had knives. “That’s what I’ve been using and it’s not working.”

As she was being transported to hospital, she turned to EMS personnel and said she was ‘not supposed to be here.

She said, “Every day I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife.

‘It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I have envisioned since I was a child.’

Metallica asked EMS how deep her wrist vein is so she knew for ‘next time.’ She also said she had taken blood thinners and was frustrated that her blood had clotted.

While at the hospital, according to the search warrant affidavit, she refused to speak with investigators.

“Suicidal, not stupid,” she allegedly told detectives.

Detectives documented cuts to her left wrist and a puncture wound to her neck, but reported no additional injuries, defensive wounds or bruising. The affidavit does not establish whether a physical struggle occurred before the killings.

In surveillance footage at the lodge, according to investigators, the family was last captured entering Room 2030 together at approximately 6:53 p.m. on October 11. Later that evening, Metallica left the room at approximately 8:12 p.m. to use a microwave in the hotel’s vending area before returning around 8:46 p.m. At approximately 10:43 p.m., Metallica and Charles left their room and went to the resort’s arcade. The couple returned at approximately 11:22 p.m.

Police reported no additional door activity captured on surveillance after that time. The following afternoon, Harrison called emergency services to reveal the nightmare that was about to unfold. Investigators have not publicly established the exact time of when Charles and his son were killed, leaving a large gap between the family’s last documented movements and the discovery of their bodies.

Responding officers from the Pocono Township Police Department discovered a butcher knife on the floor of the bathroom and a small knife in the sink. The Lodge told police that the knives both had teal green handles and did not belong to the hotel. (So…again did Metallica preplan this and bring the knives from home)?

Police also discovered several bottles of medication and containers with what they believe to be blood inside, the outlet reported.

Police conducted a search at the couple’s home discovered an “Penelec Electric” shutoff notice posted on the front door and had seized financial records. Local officers checking the Towanda property discovered  Police also contacted a local lawn care company, whose employees reportedly said they had not seen the residents in a month and were concerned about where they were.

In the warrant affidavit, investigators suggested that financial documents, records of payments for the hotel stay and the condition of the residence could help explain why the family had been away from home for so long. Police sought permission to seize mortgage documents, bank statements, loan agreements, credit card statements and other financial records. Investigators wanted to know what exactly prompted the family to leave home and remain at the resort for nearly a month.

Investigators recovered eight individually listed teal knives, along with a knife block containing two additional teal knives. They also seized several personal writings, including a red journal, a white, green and pink journal, a paper notebook and a book titled “Tristan My Day Today.” The title is unexplained. Investigators recovered nine closed envelopes from Metallica’s room and four from Charles’ room, along with miscellaneous records from drawers. Other items included financial documents from a white desk area, a black HP laptop with its charger, teal-handled scissors and a Sentry 1100 safe.

The family stated that Metallica never wanted to be pregnant in the first place and was allegedly resentful toward her own son. They say she wanted more alone time with her husband.

They also allegedly told investigators that Metallica was dominant, controlling and isolated the three of them from her husband’s family for the last three years.

Chaz’s sister shared in an update on a GoFundMe page that read, “His love for his wife and child was out of this world and, sadly, is the reason why he lost his life and his son’s life. I’m not here to say anything bad about his wife. I know my brother would not want me to do that.”

The family of three lived in a modest home in Towanda, Pennsylvania. Their home is around 100 miles northwest of the resort.

Allegations of the drained retirement fund, the nature in which both the husband and toddler were killed, and the possible murder weapons brought from home on the lengthy vacation suggest possible premeditation in the horrific case.

Great Wolf Lodge also addressed the incident in a statement.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains. It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.  Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected.”

So many questions remain unanswered. What led a family to spend three weeks at a resort known for water slides and family entertainment, only for a father and his young son to end up dead inside their hotel room?

Metallica was charged with two counts of criminal homicide.
